Centella Asiatica Extractbaseline 3% · range 2–5% (extract basis)
INCI: Centella Asiatica Extract, a solvent-type extract dosed on the as-supplied basis. Active content in solvent extracts is lower and varies between suppliers, which is why a high load makes sense here where it would not on a titrated fraction. Added on the water side below 40°C. Centella Asiatica extract is not restricted under the EU Cosmetic Regulation annexes or the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive; the CIR record documents reported use levels rather than setting a cap, so the working level is a formulation and cost decision, not a regulatory ceiling.
Standardised Centella Glycosides (Asiaticoside / Madecassoside)optional upgrade, 0.05–0.3% (90% assay basis)
For brands that want asiaticoside or madecassoside named on pack, we can layer in a titrated powder on top of the extract. It runs at 0.05–0.3% on a 90% assay basis, with the exact figure read off the supplier TDS. We stock it at 80% total glycosides and at 90% titrated purity. Centella comes in three different bases and they are not interchangeable on a spec sheet: a solvent extract, standardised glycoside powders, or TECA. For this toner we state the extract basis directly on the quote, since a high number here invites the question.
Panthenolsupporting skin conditioner
Provitamin B5, included as a well-tolerated conditioning agent that supports comfort on reactive skin. Level is set per project rather than positioned as a headline active. Fully water-soluble, so it suits a toner base without affecting clarity, which matters when you have asked for a completely clear liquid.
Ceramidessupporting barrier lipids
Included at a supporting level to give a watery format some barrier story. Ceramide profile and level are set per project. In a toner base they need solubilising, which is one of the constraints we work around when you ask for a completely clear liquid.
Allantoinsupporting soothing agent
A well-tolerated conditioning agent commonly used in sensitive-skin formats, kept as a support ingredient. Its solubility ceiling in water is the practical limit on how much we can add, not a regulatory one. In a clear toner that ceiling is lower than buyers expect, because anything undissolved will show. We confirm the achievable level during sampling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a high extract percentage the same as a high active percentage?
No, and this is the most common mix-up in Centella sourcing. Solvent extracts carry lower and more variable active content than titrated fractions, so a high extract load and a low titrated load can deliver comparable actives. We always state which basis the figure uses.
Can this be made alcohol-free?
Yes. Alcohol-free is available and is the version we usually recommend for sensitive-skin positioning, though it changes the after-feel slightly.
What claims can we make with this toner?
Soothing and hydration wording at the appearance level. We do not supply treatment wording for conditions such as eczema or dermatitis, and claim sets are reviewed against your destination market rules.
