Fragrance questions buyers ask
What is the minimum order quantity for essential oils and fragrances?
Three thousand bottles per SKU, which applies to OEM and ODM work and to the private label catalogue alike. Essential oil and SPA massage oil fill at 500ml, while eau de toilette, eau de parfum and body mists fill at 50-100ml. MOQ is counted per SKU, so a three-scent range is three thousand bottles of each rather than three thousand in total. The small fragrance fills need different tooling and different secondary packaging from the 500ml oils, so a range spanning both formats is effectively two packaging projects.
Which scents can I start from without developing a fragrance from scratch?
Cedarwood, lavender, grapefruit, jasmine and tea tree are the five we run as SPA massage oils, each blended from essential oils with a carrier oil rather than sold as a neat essential oil. On the fragrance side we work with fresh, floral and oriental notes, with profiles chosen for Southeast Asian markets. Starting from one of these is faster and cheaper than a bespoke brief, and it is the sensible route if you are testing a category rather than building a signature scent.
What fragrance compliance documentation do you provide?
We work from the fragrance house's IFRA certificate plus the allergen breakdown, and we can issue a full IFRA-format statement against the current 82-substance fragrance allergen list rather than the older 26-allergen certificate that many suppliers still hand out. One point that catches brands out: IFRA limits apply to the finished formula, not to the oil as supplied. A compliant fragrance oil can still put you over the limit once it is dosed into a body mist at your chosen percentage, so the dosage has to be checked against the finished product rather than assumed from the raw material certificate.
Are there shipping restrictions on essential oils?
Some citrus oils carry flash point considerations, and that is worth raising before you lock a scent list rather than after. A flash point below the relevant threshold changes how a shipment is classified and can restrict which freight options are available to you, which in turn affects both cost and which markets are practical to serve. If you are set on a citrus-forward range, tell us the destination market and the freight mode you expect to use and we will confirm what the classification means for that route.
How do I choose between eau de toilette, eau de parfum and a body mist?
All three are formats we produce, and the choice is mostly about intensity, price point and how the product gets used. Eau de parfum sits at the top of that range and reads as the premium format, eau de toilette is the everyday option, and a body mist is the lightest and the easiest entry price for a new brand. The format also affects your compliance work, because the fragrance dosage differs between them and IFRA limits apply to the finished product. Fill sizes across all three are 50-100ml at three thousand bottles per SKU.
