Aqua Shield Sun Essence SPF50+ PA++++
Our flagship high-SPF essence, built for the one climate condition that breaks most sunscreens: heat plus humidity plus sweat, on skin that will not tolerate a heavy film. It is a chemical filter system with an optional mineral component, and the thing worth understanding before you brief it is that the filter list itself is a market decision rather than a formulation preference.

Key Active Ingredients
How the Active Ingredients Work
We do not publish filter percentages on this page, and that is deliberate rather than evasive. Sunscreen filters are regulated actives with different approval lists and different maximum levels in every market, so a single filter blend cannot be exported globally. What we commit to instead is the finished-product result: tested SPF and PA values, with the filter system built against your destination market's permitted list.
UV filter systemSPF50+ PA++++ tested on finished product
This is the regulated part of the formula, and it is the part that has to be rebuilt per market rather than translated. Filters permitted in the EU under Annex VI, in Japan's Quasi-drug framework, in the US OTC monograph, and on the ASEAN list overlap but do not match, and each has its own maximum use level. We build the system against the permitted list for the country you are registering in, then test the finished product to confirm SPF and PA. The number on the pack comes from that test report, not from a calculation.
Mineral filter (optional)optional component, level set per market
Zinc oxide or titanium dioxide can be added alongside the chemical system where a brief needs a hybrid claim or where a specific market restricts a filter we would otherwise use. Adding mineral filter changes the sensory outcome as much as the protection profile, because it is what introduces white cast risk in a formula that is otherwise transparent. We treat it as a decision to be made on an approved sample rather than a default.
Niacinamidebaseline 2% · range 1–2% (supporting tier)
INCI: Niacinamide. Here it sits in the supporting tier, which is our 1–2% band, because the selling point of this product is the protection and the texture rather than a brightening claim. That is a deliberate positioning choice: pushing niacinamide to a headline level would change the claim set and the registration route without improving the sunscreen. It sits comfortably in this base with no pH conflict against the filter system. If you are shipping to Korea, note the 5% ceiling on niacinamide there, which this tier is well inside.
Ceramides and Aloe Verasupporting system
INCI: Ceramide NP and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice. These carry the skincare half of the positioning, which matters in a category where the buyer is choosing between a sunscreen and a sunscreen that also reads as skincare. Levels are set per project. We describe them in terms of skin comfort and finish rather than attaching a barrier-repair mechanism to a rinse-free daytime product.
Texture and finish systemsystem note
The water-light, no-pill brief is the hardest part of this formula to deliver, harder than the SPF number. Pilling comes from incompatibility between the film formers here and whatever the customer layers on top, so we test the finish against common makeup bases rather than in isolation. Non-sticky at SPF50+ in humid heat is a texture engineering result and it is what we would ask you to judge the sample on.
Formulation & Customization Options

Who This Product Is Built For
Hero SPF for humid climates
Brands launching a hero SPF SKU into Southeast Asia, where a sunscreen that feels heavy in humidity gets returned regardless of its SPF number
Skincare brands adding a daytime step
Skincare brands adding a daytime step that has to layer under makeup without pilling, sold on texture as much as on protection
Buyers needing a market-specific filter build
Buyers who need the filter system rebuilt for a specific market rather than a single global formula, and want the regulatory route mapped before sampling
Frequently Asked Questions
Why won't you tell us the filter percentages?
Because a filter percentage is only meaningful alongside the market it is approved for, and quoting one invites the assumption that the same formula ships everywhere. Filters have different approval status and different maximum levels in the EU, Japan, the US and ASEAN, so the same blend is legal in one market and not in another. What we commit to is the tested SPF and PA on the finished product for your market. The full filter breakdown goes into your registration dossier, where it belongs.
Can one formula cover all our export markets?
No, and this is the single most useful thing to understand before briefing a sunscreen. A sunscreen formula is not globally portable: the filter list is market-specific, and sunscreen is regulated as an OTC drug, a quasi-drug or a special-use cosmetic depending on where you sell it. In practice we build a lead formula for your primary market and adapt the filter system for secondary markets, which is faster than starting over but is not a relabel.
What SPF and PA can you actually deliver, and how is it verified?
SPF50+ PA++++ is our standard build for this base, and lower targets are available. Verification is in vivo testing on the finished formula, not a calculated value, and the report is issued so it can support your registration. Lead time is 45–60 days including stability and SPF testing, which is longer than our other categories for exactly that reason.
How do you stop a high-SPF product from pilling under makeup?
By testing it under makeup rather than on its own. Pilling is an interaction between the film formers in the sunscreen and whatever goes on top, so it cannot be predicted from the sunscreen formula alone. We check the finish against common base products and adjust the film system if it fails. This is worth putting in your brief explicitly, because it changes what we optimise for.
What are the MOQ and lead time?
MOQ is 2,000–3,000 bottles per SKU and lead time is 45–60 days, which includes stability testing and in vivo SPF and PA testing. The testing is the reason this category runs longer than our skincare lines, and it is not compressible. We produce across 13 lines with capacity of 200,000 units per day, so scaling after launch is not the constraint.
