Sensitive Skin Mineral Sunscreen SPF30

A mineral sunscreen built for sensitive skin, using zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as the filter system rather than a chemical blend. Mineral sunscreen is a genuinely different product to formulate, not a marketing label, and the two hard problems are white cast and texture, both of which come from the same place: the filters are solid particles, not dissolved actives.

Key Active Ingredients

Zinc Oxide/Titanium Dioxide (coated)Centella AsiaticaCeramidesPanthenolHyaluronic acid

How the Active Ingredients Work

Mineral filters are still regulated actives with market-specific maximum levels, so we specify tested SPF on the finished product rather than particle percentages. What we can say about the system is qualitative: it uses coated zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, chosen and dispersed for a sensitive-skin sensory result and a controlled white cast.

Mineral UV filter systemSPF30 tested on finished product

INCI: Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, coated grades. These are physical filters that sit as dispersed solid particles rather than dissolving into the formula, which is why dispersion quality decides the result as much as the load does. Coated grades are used to keep the particles stable and to reduce the reactivity that uncoated mineral can have. Maximum permitted levels differ by market, so the system is built to your registration market and SPF is confirmed on the finished product.

Centella Asiaticasupporting soothing active

INCI: Centella Asiatica Extract. The named soothing ingredient, consistent with our centella repair range, chosen because a sensitive-skin sunscreen is judged as much on comfort as on protection. Level set per project. We describe it in terms of skin comfort rather than as a treatment, which keeps a daytime sun product inside the cosmetic category.

Ceramides and Panthenolsupporting barrier system

INCI: Ceramide NP and Panthenol. Included to make a mineral sunscreen comfortable for reactive skin, where the film can otherwise feel tight or draggy. They carry the skin-comfort half of the positioning. Levels set per project and described in terms of feel and finish rather than a clinical barrier-repair claim on a rinse-free daytime product.

White cast and texture systemsystem note

This is the real formulation work in a mineral sunscreen. White cast comes from the mineral particles scattering visible light, and it is managed through particle grade, dispersion and the finish system rather than by cutting the filter load, which would cut the SPF. The trade-off between a low white cast and a high, even SPF is the central decision, and it is one to make on an approved sample against your customer's skin tones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a mineral sunscreen better for sensitive skin?

For many reactive-skin customers it is the positioning they prefer, because the filter sits on the surface as a physical particle rather than a dissolved chemical active. Whether it is objectively gentler depends on the individual, and we would not make a blanket claim beyond that. What we can build is a comfortable, low-irritation-risk formula with a short, recognisable ingredient list, which is usually what the sensitive-skin buyer is actually asking for.

Can you make a mineral sunscreen without white cast?

We can manage white cast down substantially through particle grade and dispersion, but a mineral SPF30 on darker skin tones will show more cast than a chemical one, and pretending otherwise sets up returns. The honest brief is a controlled, acceptable cast for your target skin tones, tested on sample. Pushing cast to zero usually means cutting the filter load, which cuts the SPF, so it is a trade-off to make deliberately.

Why don't you publish the zinc oxide and titanium dioxide percentages?

Because they are regulated actives with market-specific maximum levels, and because in a mineral system the dispersion matters as much as the raw percentage: the same load dispersed differently gives a different SPF and a different cast. A number on its own would be misleading. We give the tested SPF on the finished product, and the full quantitative composition goes into your registration file.

Can this genuinely be used after procedures or during pregnancy?

We formulate it to a low-irritation-risk, fragrance-free-capable, mineral-filter brief, which is the profile those customers look for, and we keep the ingredient list short and recognisable. We do not make a medical safety claim for pregnancy or post-procedure use, because that is a matter for the end user and their clinician, not for a cosmetic label. We can support the positioning with the formula and the ingredient list rather than with a health claim.

What are the MOQ and lead time?

MOQ is 2,000–3,000 bottles per SKU and lead time is 45–60 days including stability and in vivo SPF testing. Mineral dispersions also need their own stability confirmation, which sits inside that window. Once the formula is locked, production runs across our 13 lines at 200,000 units per day.
