Key Active Ingredients
How the Active Ingredients Work
This is a single-species essential oil supplied undiluted at 100%, not a blended body oil. Tea tree is the one material in this range where the specification is genuinely measurable, so the page gives you the standard we buy to rather than a functional claim.
Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil100%, undiluted
INCI: Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil. Steam-distilled from the leaves and terminal branchlets of a single species, and specified against ISO 4730 rather than to price. The market carries a wide quality spread and the cheap lots are cheap for identifiable reasons, usually a low terpinen-4-ol figure or adulteration with cheaper melaleuca species.
ISO 4730 specificationterpinen-4-ol 30% minimum, 1,8-cineole 15% maximum
ISO 4730 defines the composition ranges for oil of Melaleuca, terpinen-4-ol type. Terpinen-4-ol is the marker constituent and the standard sets a 30% floor; 1,8-cineole is capped because it is the harsher, more irritating component and a high figure signals either poor plant material or the wrong chemotype. We will quote a defined higher-terpinen-4-ol lot where a brief calls for it, and the lot figures appear on the COA rather than as a category average.
Storage and oxidationnot applicable
Tea tree oxidises readily on exposure to air, light, and warmth, and oxidised tea tree is both less pleasant and more likely to irritate skin than fresh oil. Supplied in amber glass with minimal headspace. No antioxidant is added, because that would make it a formulation rather than a pure oil, so cool storage and prompt use after opening sit with you.

Who This Product Is Built For
Brands formulating cleansers and scalp lines
Tea tree is a standard inclusion in oil-control cleansers, scalp tonics, and body washes. Buying it undiluted with a documented terpinen-4-ol figure is what a formulator needs to work from.
SPA operators buying bulk
Treatment rooms that dilute on site for back and body work. Undiluted supply is cheaper per treatment and lets the therapist set the strength by service.
Buyers who have been burned on quality
This is the material most often adulterated or sold with a weak profile. If a previous supplier gave you a category-average sheet rather than lot figures, that is the gap this specification closes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What specification do you buy to?
ISO 4730, oil of Melaleuca terpinen-4-ol type, with terpinen-4-ol at a minimum of 30% and 1,8-cineole held low. Terpinen-4-ol is the marker constituent; 1,8-cineole is capped because it is the harsher component and a high reading points to poor plant material or the wrong chemotype. Lot figures go on the COA, not a category average.
What claims can we make on the finished product?
That is yours to decide with your local assessor, and it has to comply with the advertising rules of the market you sell in. We supply the material specification and a scent description and no functional claims, because the finished product is not ours to characterise. Antibacterial, anti-acne, and antifungal wording in particular changes the regulatory category in several markets rather than just the marketing copy.
Is it diluted, and can you blend it for us?
Supplied at 100% with no carrier, antioxidant, or additive. Contract blending into a finished product is available as a separate quotation, in which case the dilution and the claim set are agreed as part of that project.
Why does storage matter more for this oil?
Tea tree oxidises faster than the woods and florals, and oxidised oil is both less pleasant and more likely to irritate. Because we ship it pure with no antioxidant added, keeping it cool, dark, and closed is what protects it. If you need an antioxidant included, that is a blending project rather than a pure oil order.
How do we know it is not adulterated?
The GC/MS profile per lot is the answer. Adulteration with cheaper melaleuca species or with isolated terpinene shows up in the constituent pattern, which is why we send the trace rather than a summary figure. If you want to run your own confirmatory test, we will supply retained samples.
