How the Active Ingredients Work

An emulsion sits between a serum and a cream, and that is a commercial position as much as a textural one: it carries brightening actives at serum-like levels while doing enough of the moisturising job to work as a single step. Tranexamic acid is the active that defines this formula and also the one that needs checking market by market before artwork. Concentrations are our standard ODM baseline, adjustable for your target market and price point.

Tranexamic acidlevel set per destination market

The active that makes this an anti-spot product rather than a general brightener, and the reason we do not publish a fixed level. Its regulatory position varies by market: in mainland China, brightening and anti-spot claims require functional-efficacy evaluation and filing under the Cosmetic Supervision and Administration Regulation, while a number of other markets handle the ingredient as an ordinary cosmetic material and accept an appearance-based claim. That means the level and the claim wording are decided together against where you are selling, not chosen from a catalogue.

Niacinamidebaseline 3.0% · range 2.0–5.0%

Vitamin B3, working on pigment transfer to surface skin cells rather than on melanin synthesis directly. The published evidence most often cited is an eight-week split-face trial in 27 melasma patients, where the 4% side showed significant improvement; we set our baseline one point lower at 3% as a tolerability and cost decision, and brands can move up to 4–5% within the range. Korea caps niacinamide at 5% in its functional-cosmetic framework, so the top of this range is also the ceiling for a Korean filing. In an emulsion it pairs naturally with tranexamic acid because the two act at different points, which is the argument for this combination over a single higher-dose active. A 2% version is available where tolerability is the brand promise.

Vitamin C derivative (MAP)baseline 1.0% · range 0.5–2.0%

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate rather than pure L-ascorbic acid, chosen for formulation stability. It prefers a higher pH than several other brightening actives, so in a multi-active emulsion the target pH is a trade-off confirmed per project rather than a fixed figure.

Hydrolysed Collagenlevel set by claim and cost

Present for skin-feel and for the ingredient story the category expects. We are direct about the mechanism: topically applied collagen fragments do not rebuild dermal collagen, they act as film-forming humectants, which is a real benefit to the after-feel but not a structural one. Brands wanting the collagen name on the front of pack should know the level is a marketing and cost decision more than a performance one.

Ceramidesbarrier support, low level

Included because an anti-spot routine tends to run several actives at once, and barrier support is what keeps that tolerable over a full bottle. This is the ingredient most often cut when a brief is purely price-led, and the first one we would argue to keep.

Hyaluronic Acid0.1–0.3% (total)

A supporting humectant rather than a brightening active. At emulsion viscosity it contributes less to skin-feel than it would in a serum, so the level sits lower than in our aqueous products.

Who This Product Is Built For

Brands wanting one step instead of two

The emulsion format is the answer to a specific brief: brightening performance without asking the customer to layer a serum and a moisturiser. Brands that would rather split the routine start from our Glutathione Brightening Serum with the Glutathione Brightening Cream on top.

Post-acne mark positioning

Tranexamic acid and niacinamide together suit the post-acne mark claim, which is a distinct and often less crowded position than general whitening in Southeast Asian retail.

Combination and sensitive skin lines

The ceramide and barrier component makes this workable for brands whose customers have reacted badly to harsher brightening routines.

Markets where whitening claims are regulated

Because the tranexamic acid level is set per market, this base can be positioned as an appearance claim where a functional whitening filing is not on the table. We review claim wording before artwork sign-off.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MOQ and lead time?

MOQ is 2,000–3,000 bottles per SKU. Production runs 45–55 days after sample approval and custom sample rounds take 3–4 weeks. The sampling window is longer than on a simple hydrating product because a multi-active emulsion needs its pH and stability confirmed before the formula is locked.

Why will you not publish the tranexamic acid level?

Because the number that is correct depends on where you sell. Mainland China requires functional-efficacy evaluation and filing for anti-spot claims, while a number of other markets handle the ingredient as an ordinary cosmetic material. Publishing one figure would either overstate what we can ship into some markets or understate what is available in others. Tell us your destination market and we confirm the level for your project.

Does the collagen actually do anything?

It improves the after-feel and it satisfies a category expectation, and that is the honest scope. Topically applied hydrolysed collagen acts as a film-forming humectant; it does not rebuild collagen in the dermis. We would rather say that plainly at the quoting stage than have you build claims that will not survive a regulatory review.

Serum, emulsion, or cream — which should we launch?

An emulsion is the strongest single-SKU choice because it carries actives and moisture in one step. A serum is right if your routine has several steps and you want the actives concentrated; a cream is right if moisturising is the headline and brightening is the support. Many brands eventually run two of the three.

Is it certified for export?

Manufacturing is ISO 22716 and GMPC compliant, with SGS testing on request, and ingredient compliance is confirmed against your destination market before sampling. On this product the claim set is the thing to settle first — anti-spot and brightening wording is a regulated functional claim in several Asian markets and an appearance claim in others, and that decision affects the formula, not just the label.
