GRAPEFRUIT

A rinse-off body scrub positioned for the morning shower and the post-workout reset, carried on a citrus scent with a subtle bittersweet edge. It is a fragrance-and-freshness product first, which changes what matters in the formula: granule feel, oil level and how clean the rinse is, rather than a headline active.

Key Active Ingredients

How the Active Ingredients Work

A grapefruit scrub sells on the wake-up moment, so this one is built around scent and freshness rather than a heavy active load. The two numbers that actually decide the product are the granule choice and the oil level, and both are settled on a physical sample rather than a spec sheet. The baseline below is our standard ODM starting point, adjustable for your target market and price point.

Sugar or fine sea salt granulesbaseline 25% · range 15–40% (particle load)

This is the particle load that sets the scrub feel, and the sugar-versus-salt choice is a positioning decision rather than a cost one. Sugar dissolves as you work, so the scrub starts firmer and softens; salt holds its bite the whole way through and reads more vigorous but is not the right call straight after shaving. We build the first samples both ways when the brief does not specify.

Grapefruit extract / peelbaseline 1% · range 0.5–2%

INCI: Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil / Extract. Carries the scent that the whole product hangs on, so the level is tuned by nose on sample rather than to a functional target. Citrus oils are a fragrance-allergen and photosensitivity consideration, so the grade and level are set with the destination market labelling rules in mind.

Vitamin C derivativesupporting antioxidant

A stabilised vitamin C derivative rather than pure ascorbic acid, included for antioxidant support of the oil phase and a light freshness cue rather than as a brightening active. In a rinse-off scrub the contact time is short, so we position it honestly as support and keep the claim on the product at freshness and exfoliation.

Plant oilssupporting emollient

The nourishing half of the product and a large part of how clean the rinse feels. Level is adjustable and directly changes how oily the shower floor gets, which is a real complaint driver in this category, so we treat it as a deliberate sampling decision rather than a default.

Glycerinsupporting humectant

Included to offset the drying side of a brisk morning scrub, so skin feels comfortable rather than squeaky after rinsing. It sits in the water phase, so we set it by the finished texture rather than to a published number.

Who This Product Is Built For

Morning and post-workout body care lines

The citrus wake-up angle fits a shower product used at the start of the day or after training, which is a different occasion from the evening ritual scrubs and suits a gym or active-lifestyle brand. The sachet format was sized with gym bags in mind.

Fragrance-led e-commerce ranges

When the scent is the hook, the jar reveal and the citrus note carry the product on short-form video without a heavy active story behind it. That keeps the formula simple and the claims clean.

Trial and travel programmes

Available in 30–50g single-use sachets on the same base, which suits gym sampling, travel packs and hotel amenity supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sugar or salt for this scrub?

It is a positioning choice, not a cost one. Sugar dissolves as you use it, so the scrub starts firmer and gets gentler, which suits daily use and sensitive skin. Salt keeps its bite throughout and reads as a more vigorous, invigorating scrub that fits the wake-up angle, but it is not the one to use straight after shaving. Tell us the character you want and we will sample both so you can feel the difference before committing.

Is the vitamin C derivative a brightening active here?

We position it as antioxidant support and a freshness cue, not a brightening claim. A rinse-off scrub has short skin-contact time, so it is not the format to carry a serious vitamin C efficacy story, and we would rather say that plainly than oversell it. If brightening is the goal, a leave-on product is the honest vehicle and we can point you to one.

Does the grapefruit scent create any labelling issues?

Citrus oils carry fragrance allergens that have to be declared above set thresholds, and grapefruit specifically raises a photosensitivity flag worth checking for a product used before sun exposure. We select the grade and level with your destination market rules in mind and supply the allergen breakdown for your label. It is a solved problem, but one worth naming rather than discovering at registration.

Will the oil make the shower slippery?

It comes down to the oil level, and it is worth raising because it generates real returns in this category. We adjust the oil against the rinse-off feel you want and will sample two levels if your brief does not specify. For a morning or post-gym product a cleaner rinse usually suits the occasion better, so it is worth deciding deliberately.

What are the MOQ and lead time?

MOQ is 2,000–3,000 jars per SKU and lead time is 35–45 days after sample approval. Scrubs sit at the longer end of our body-care lead times: a thick product holding granules in suspension fills more slowly than a lotion. Sachet formats are quotable on the same base. This is our standard ODM baseline, adjustable for your target market and price point.
