Value (Repair Cream)

Snail Mucin Repair Cream

A value-tier repair cream carrying snail secretion filtrate at an assist-tier level, with ceramides and panthenol doing the barrier work and squalane keeping the base comfortable. The filtrate gives the product its shelf story; the ceramide system gives it the after-feel that drives repurchase. If the brief calls for filtrate as the lead ingredient rather than a supporting one, that is a filtrate-led serum at a different tier and we quote it separately.

How the Active Ingredients Work

Levels below are our standard ODM starting point, expressed as a share of the total formula on an as-supplied basis, and adjustable for your target market and price point.

Snail Secretion Filtratebaseline 3% · range 1–5%

The story ingredient, at what we call the assist tier — the level where a ‘with snail’ claim is honest without pretending the filtrate is carrying the formula. One point of clarity that matters commercially: our percentages are formulation input as a share of the total formula on an as-supplied basis, not raw material purity, and they match our batch records, since those two get conflated constantly in this category. The defensible claim set at this level is soothing and hydrating. We will not write that a higher load performs better, since there is no dose-response data supporting it, nor that it heals wounds or repairs scars, which are medical claims. Brands wanting the filtrate as the headline step up to a dedicated filtrate-led serum that replaces part of the water phase, which is a different product from this cream.

Ceramide complexceramide blend as the barrier base

The ingredient actually doing the repair work the product name implies, and the reason this cream holds up against a filtrate-only competitor at the same price. Ceramides supplement what a compromised barrier is short of, and in a leave-on cream they get the contact time to matter. Supportable wording is helping to strengthen the look and feel of the skin barrier. We keep the claim there rather than at repair of damaged skin, which is a medical framing regardless of how common it is on competitor packaging.

Panthenol with Allantoinpanthenol baseline 2% · range 1–5%; allantoin baseline 0.2% · range 0.1–0.5%

The soothing pair, both well documented and both used at functional rather than token levels. Panthenol supports hydration and the calm after-feel; allantoin is the reason this cream can be positioned for post-sun and post-procedure comfort occasions without reaching for a medical claim. Allantoin stays at or below 0.5% because higher loads bring no additional benefit and can affect the texture.

Squalaneplant-derived, in the oil phase

Plant-derived rather than shark-derived, which matters both for buyer questions and for the rest of the base. It gives the cream its slip and a light occlusive finish without the heaviness a butter-led oil phase would add, which suits the year-round humid markets this product is aimed at. Note that the snail filtrate itself is animal-derived, so the formula as a whole cannot carry a vegan claim — the squalane choice is about the quality of the base, not a workaround.

Hyaluronic acidrange 0.1–0.5% total sodium hyaluronate

Supporting cast rather than a functional active, capped at 0.5% total. Above that a repair cream turns tacky, and in a product whose whole promise is comfort, a sticky finish undermines the claim more than a missing tenth of a percent ever would.

Who This Product Is Built For

Value-tier repair lines

The filtrate story at a mass-market landed cost, which is the position most first-time brands can actually launch. If the brief needs a premium ceramide-led night step instead, the Good Night Repair Sleeping Cream sits a tier above with a peptide blend.

Brands running snail across formats

A cream plus a sheet mask is how most snail lines acquire trial buyers and then convert them. The Snail Mucin Repair Sheet Mask runs the same assist-tier level, so the concentration story stays consistent when a customer reads both labels.

Vegan and Indonesia-bound lines

Snail filtrate is animal-derived, and Indonesia’s mandatory halal requirement from 17 October 2026 makes snail-containing products difficult to certify. For those channels the Centella Soothing Repair Cream is the substitute we recommend rather than reformulating this one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only 3% snail filtrate? Competitors advertise 92%.

Different product architectures, and the comparison is not like for like. A 92% product is a filtrate-led formula where the filtrate replaces most of the water phase, which makes it a serum, and we build those separately at a higher tier. This is a ceramide-led repair cream where the filtrate is a supporting ingredient at an honest assist-tier level. We will not claim a higher load performs better, because there is no dose-response data supporting it, and a cream that led with filtrate would have to give up the ceramide and oil phase that make it a cream.

What does the percentage actually refer to?

Formulation input as a share of the total formula on an as-supplied basis, matching our batch records — not raw material purity and not dry solids. This is the single most common source of confusion in the snail category, and it is worth asking every supplier which basis they quote on. If they will not answer, the number is not comparable to ours.

Can it be certified halal or vegan?

Neither, and this is a hard limit rather than a paperwork problem. Snail filtrate is animal-derived, so a vegan claim is not available. On halal, mainstream juristic opinion does not treat land snails as halal, so certification generally cannot be obtained. Indonesia’s mandatory halal requirement takes effect 17 October 2026, so for that market we would recommend the Centella Soothing Repair Cream rather than attempting to certify this formula.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

MOQ is 2,000–3,000 jars per SKU and lead time is 45–55 days after sample approval. Sampling runs 2–3 weeks. The tube format carries the same MOQ band at a lower unit cost, which is the common choice for online-first brands.

Can we claim it repairs acne scars?

No, and we would push back on that brief. Scar repair, wound healing and acne treatment are medical claims, and in the US or China they would reclassify the product. What we support is soothing and hydrating, and helping to reduce the look of post-acne marks over continued use. That wording holds up under platform audits and customs review, which the stronger version does not.

Is there an allergen concern with snail filtrate?

Worth flagging to your customers: there is discussion of cross-reactivity for people with shellfish or mollusc allergies, so we recommend a patch-test line in your usage instructions. It is not a regulatory restriction in the EU, ASEAN or the US, and the ingredient is freely usable in those markets. Manufacturing is ISO 22716 and GMPC compliant, with SGS testing on request.
